History, Etc.

OK, two things:

You gotta admit, no matter what his bullshit on coal and nuclear power, a biracial guy, seen by most as "a black man," accepting the nomination for president of the U.S. is a pretty FREAKIN' powerful moment.

And for those 10 leftover PUMAs who think somehow that John "Hates Women's Issues" McCain of the anti-health care, anti-equal work for equal pay, anti-choice, anti-planet, anti-union, anti-public schools, pro-war, pro-outsourcing, pro-redistribution of wealth to the top .5 percent party would somehow care more about women than the Dems, McCain has thrown a sop.

True, no woman has been on a GOP presidential ticket before, but I guess it's not so historic for the GOP to be cynically manipulative. I know women are smarter than this bullshit suggests.

Well said, Suzi!

From the floor of our historic Democratic National Convention to back home in good ol' green Eugene, I applaud your words and wisdom, Suzi Steffen!

One of the most inspirational and important elements of the 2008 DNC was the recognition of the very real coming together of like-minded Clinton and Obama delegates who realize we may have had minor differences, but our shared common values and progressive ideals are what make us united! Defeating the archaic attitudes of the McBush crowd this fall is paramount to our positive future as Americans.

Thank you for recognizing the GOP's "cynically manipulative" ill-attempt at obviously using gender as some sort of wedge issue that's right out the Rove play-book. Why the so-called "right" curiously plans to take us backwards in regards to any civil, fiscal, environmental reform is beyond me. Oh wait! I forgot how influential money, power, and wealth can be. Guess it makes sense. But their clock is ticking...

Let's clean it November 4th!

Matt Keating, Eugene
Delegate, 2008 DNC (OR, 4th)

PS - To anyone else reading this who may have recently relocated, PLEASE re-register to vote by October 14! Every time you move, ya MUST re-register. DON'T FORGET! http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/ORvregc/
