Signal:Noise Episode 8

Out! Out! Damned Clouds! Welcome to the 8th episode of Signal:Noise, your favorite local music podcast (as voted on by listeners like you!), and join host Mr. Chuck as he prays on hand and knee for the parting of the Constant Gray and plays music that has a light, summery feel to it, as well as words like "summer" and "sun" in the title. Featuring the likes of The Decemberists, Caribou, Grandaddy, Beach House, Yann Tiersen, Yeasayer, Le Tigre (pictured), A Sunny Day in Glasgow, M.I.A. and some dude who directed Moulin Rouge — but hasn't been heard from since — who sings of the perils of sunlight and the pitfalls of graduating in the year 1997. Baz Luhrmann

... has too been heard from! I give you Australia!

I can't freakin' wait.

Also, I love Le Tigre.

Oh, I'm just joking about

Oh, I'm just joking about Baz. He did get to work with the Met, so that's something. As for Australia, I only hope it doesn't tread the same ground as Cold Mountain, in which Kidman is intolerable (even tho I like the film as a whole). Come to think of it, Kidman was intolerable in Moulin Rouge as well.

I'm willing to give Baz the benefit of the doubt. But only because he knows how to recite op-ed columns and make them into silly pop-phenoms.

Dirty lies!

I love Moulin Rouge. I'm just sayin'. I kind of think maybe she's supposed to be intolerable in it, because it makes Mr. McGregor just that much cooler. But I have high hopes for Australia, for sure.
